Currently I am working in a well established tanning and nail salon. Mainly the tanning side is where the majority of the business lies. In the 15 months I have been there the nail business has TAKEN OFF. Without coming across as completely conceited I can attribute the booming nail business to myself. I am only nail tech there as I replaced someone else.
The salon owner is looking to sell. I was the first person she offered the business to. My concern lies in the fact that I have 2 kids aged 10 and 6 with little to no babysitting options (daycare is joke in terms of finances). However, it took me 3 years to find a good fit for me. The location is marvelous, the clients are amazing and overall I have never been as happy with any job as I currently am. I have considered other options as far as where to work should my boss sell to someone who sucks to for. I have always wanted to own my own business but I hesitate because of the kids and lack of options for 3 months out of the year for at least 7 years.
My question then, I guess, is...Realistically, how doable is this for me?
It seems very doable if you ask me. It is established, has walk-in business and you can set your own hours. What you need to decide is whether or not you are willing to make the effort to search out proper daycare for your kids, because a salon is no place for them to be. And unless you intend on bringing in another tech (which would be a good idea anyway), you will be forced to work every day that shop is open. The money you earn will be more as an owner (although for the first several years will go toward your principal), but you should still be able to afford good child care. But in the end it is up to you and how hard you are willing to work for what you want.

I would weigh out your pros and cons. but I'm also a person who likes to live life without regret. It seems like a really good opportunity for you to take advantage of. I say go for it
Well if you are interested in running any such sort of business, or are wondering that you can handle any such sort of business your own self, then surely you should be able to buy the business right away.
If you are going to own the business then you would have to hire another nail tech so you would be able to take care of your home life. even if you didbnt want to hire him/her you could have a booth rental. only you can create your own way to run the business.
