Every time I go in for a fill, she only puts one coat of gel. She said that it is only necessary to put two coats if one of the nails gets broken or messed up. But some places I've read say that you are supposed to do two coats regardless when doing a fill. I just want to know if she's doing this right or not because I pay a lot of money for these haha so I want them done correctly. I do believe she did two coats when she initially did the set, but I'm not completely sure.
It really depends on the viscosity and type of gel she is using and the type of enhancment you are getting. If you just have an overlay at this point and she is using a medium to thick viscosity builder gel; then yes a single layer should do fine.
No problem! You see, if you just have an overlay--to keep the balance of the nail the product should be thinner at the back and heavier as it moves toward the free edge. If the tech is keeping the back of the enhancment filed flush to your nat nail--at fill time they should just have to add product to the regrowth and brush it thinly over the rest of the nail. Because of the self-leveling nature of the gel, it should settle where it is needed.
