I have acrylics done now, but it's getting close to time to need a fill and I'm wondering if I should get the acrylic fill or get the acrylics taken off and get gel done.

Also, what is gel powder?
Yeah, acrylic is definitely cheaper, and I've heard more durable which is why I got it in the first place. I work with kids so I need something that'll last really well.

Stick with the acrylic given your job. There is no such thing as gel powder. Gel is always a "gel", meaning pre-application--it always looks like a jelly-like substance. If it doesn't--it's not a gel.
And remember that neither is better or worse for your nails, it is you and the tech that makes the difference.
