Because you are a nail biter, I would suggest NOT getting "Gel" nails. Your nails are more than likely damaged and you will experience extreme exothermic reactions when you put your hands in the light no matter what you do. And gels are more flexible which means they will be easier for you to damage and cause further damage to your nail--particularly if you bite on them.
I always suggest fully sculpted L&P Acrylic nails in a sport length with a rounded tip for biters. A QUALIFIED, REPUTABLE, LICENSED, KNOWLEDGABLE tech will know how to sculpt out your nail plate to look normal and sculpt a short tip building up the stress area to give you strong, good looking nail that will be easier for you to "grow" into.

My coworker always gets the Shellac done because she's a nail biter and it helps her not bite her nails when it's on, she has tried acrylic forms and tips and they never seem to stay on for her
