Should I keep my gels or go back to natural nails?

I'm tired of running every two weeks for gel fills. Plus it is getting expensive. I'm thinking natural may be the way to go but am unsure. What is the general consensus in the "real" world? My natural nails will be short and damaged for awhile, should I wait until after the summer?
