Default Would like to change the shape of my acrylics

Right now I have salon-length, oval-shaped acrylic enhancements. I used forms, and my natural nails are pretty short under the acrylic. (They are pink and whites, too)

I'd like to make square-shaped nails, but I don't know if I should file down all of the old white acrylic, or just use the forms and add the "corners" of the squares.

I hope that makes sense. My lingo sucks.

Your corners would be pretty weak. I would file off all of the white, square off the tip as much as you can and sculpt new tips. Remember to use the 3 layer method increase the strength.

omg, I really botched them! I don't know how to use the forms correctly yet, and they aren't fitting well to the underside of my nails. They weren't flush--there was a gap, so I ended up with this chunky mess. So I filed away and now I have sport-length nails with rounded tips. Again, hee-hee.

BUT, on a good note-- I had a nail that had broken off very close to the nail bed, like a nail-biter nail. I used the three layer method for that too and yay! The acrylic stayed on like a charm and I created a nice bit of length!

Also, I made my own unique pink for the pink and whites, using a fuscha-sort of pigment and a bit of fine white glitter. The color ended up great, and almost takes away from the bloody gashes I have in my cuticles from the file.

Well...most of that is good news! But! You really need to learn how to hold that file flat to your nail so that there is no angle to keep it from digging into your nail!
