Last week, I broke a nail by accidently driving my finger into a wall. The force "flexed" my acrylic nail(overlay on salon-length natural nail) and not only did the acrylic break across the middle of the nailbed, but it also broke my natural nail across the same place.
I read some article that said that it's safer to keep your natural nails short and use a form for length just in case you have a stupid accident like mine. I don't know if this article was really written by a pro or by a home user.
What do you think? Should I trim my natural nails short and use a form if I want a longer length? I don't want them long all the time, just for special occassions.
Not really, it will not make a difference with L&P acrylic nails whether your natural nail is underneath it at the free edge or not. It is still attached to your nail over the entire nail. And wherever you have that bend or break is where it is going to bend or break your nail. And if you rip it off, it is more than likely going to come off with some fo your natural nail. The key is to not wear nails longer than your lifestyle calls for and to treat your nails like jewels not tools!
Some one like grow nails as beauty concept so we will be aware in any matters so there is a lot of procedures for promoting health issues so be happy for best and get a clear vision for best beauty.
Of course it is your choice, but I quit using nail tips and only sculpt my gel nails because of that very reason. I hit my acrylic nails on vacation one time and lifted the acrylic and my natural nail and it took over 6 months to heal...it was a mess.
Now, even if I hit my gels, most of the time, they don't break or lift, but even if they do, there is no damage to my natural nail.
I will never go back to tips. I only use my tips on my nail trainer for nail art ;o)
