Default Is it necassary to file the pre-designed tip?

I've had a couple times where i whould put acrylic nails on a client and they were pre-designed tips but the acrylic seperated from the tip. I didn't file the tip prior to acrylic application for fear of taking off the design. Any suggestions?

Yes, you need to buff the shine from the surface of the tip and make sure that you "cap" the edges of the tip with each layer of product to keep it from separating.

If you dont mind Claudia, im going to have to disagree with you.
If you buffer or file a pre-design tip you will leave file line .. and you dont want that. So, i will recommend to not file.
You should try both and let us know the results!

Actually i tried buffing and it worked out ok but i had to be very carefull because buffing it like whatever or too agressive, does take off the design.

It just happened to me again! thankfully she was nice about it and let me fix it instead of getting all pissed off like some people. Im starting to hate pre-designed tips now! I think you have to buff it or file it or it will seperate.

Try just buffing the edges of the tip gently. Just enough to remove the shine. Then use your primer on those edges.

Hello,

I once had the exact same problem using pre designed tips. What I discovered helped me out a great deal. I swiped a bit of acetone with a Q-tip or cotton ball (not too much!) and it buffed it out nicely without taking off the design. Also using a buffer on the edges, prime and cap your edges!! Hope this helps
